History & Overview
Apple is one of the most successful companies to date. With impressive market share and notable customer satisfaction ratings, it is no wonder as to how the company has grown to such a high platform. The key to the longevity of a company lies within employees and more importantly management. Although Apple has undergone management changes, the new CEO, Tim Cook, has included philanthropy, publicity of inner company activities and a work ethic that knows no end. The future for Apple is sure to excel with Cook leading.
Personality
Although there is much respect towards Cook internally and externally at Apple, his personality within the workplace can be, at times, less than pleasant. His brutal honesty and never ending work mode have exhausted previous employees. One recalls, [Cook] convened a meeting with his team, and the discussion turned to a particular problem in Asia. "This is really bad," Cook told the group. "Someone should be in China driving this." Thirty minutes into that meeting Cook looked at Sabih Khan, a key operations executive, and abruptly asked, without a trace of emotion, "Why are you still here?"
Current and Former Apple CEO, Tim Cook and Steve Jobs
Tim Cook is viewed as very shy and quiet with a dry sense of humor. He is less than pleasant in business meetings and many times wakens employees with 4 am phone calls. There have been many previous employees speak negatively of his insensitivity, but admire his ability to get things done. Cook is outwardly emotionally stable as he keeps calm and collected during high
stress situations. His semi-traditional manage approach was proven successful during Steve Jobs' 6 month absence in 2009 the company's earnings increased by over 67%. Unlike his predecessor Steve Jobs, Cook never raises his voice and is open releasing Apples' current news to the public.
For the CEO of one of the most successful companies in the world, he manages to keep a very low profile. A southern man who happens to be gay, yet is a registered republican. Based on the experiences from Apple employees, it is apparent that Cook is very introverted and is a low self-monitor.
Values
Accountability is an important asset that both employees and suppliers must maintain to keep Cook content. According to Fortune, Cook can be a tough leader: “I’ve seen him shred people,” says a former executive. “He asks you the questions he knows you can’t answer, and he keeps going and going. It isn’t funny, and it’s not fun.”

Cook's track record of previous employment show consistency and loyalty towards each company. Cook joined Apple in 1998 and has not transitioned between companies during that time. Before, he only spent time at IBM, Compaq, North American Fulfillment and Nike throughout his working career.
Cook is a health nut, chowing down on energy bars and bicycling and weightlifting to keep in shape.
The first general manager of Apple's online store recalls, "When he's not working, he's working out."With the likelihood of trying to catch up to idol, Lance Armstrong.
Despite Cook's intensity in his work, he has shown another side that his predecessor lacked. Cook has started a new charitable matching program at Apple where the company will match up to $10,000 annually for every dollar donated to a non-profit organization. This is something very new to Apple because when Steve Jobs was at the helm, there were many people asking why he wouldn't join the ranks of Bill Gates and Warren Buffett to pledge half his fortune to charity. A move like this shows how much Tim Cook cares about people despite his tough leadership qualities. So according to Rokeach's values, Cook strongly values equality and responsibility.
Motivation for Workers and Future for Workers
After the announcement of being Apple's next CEO, Tim Cook sent an email to all his employees and promised that everything will not change. "I want you to be confident that Apple is not going to change. I cherish and celebrate Apple's unique principles and values. Steve built a company and culture that is unlike any other in the world and we are going to stay true to that-it is in our DNA. We are going to continue to make the best products in the world that delight our customers and make our employees incredibly proud of what they do".

One of the problem that Apple is facing now is the knit network of suppliers in Asia. He called a meeting with his people as soon as he is assigned to fix that problem. No doubt, Tim has the capability of operating Apple because he was the chief operating officer for a long time. However, Different than Steven Jobs, some said Tim Cook lacks the vision and product focus. So what will Apple become eventually? We might figure out the answer couple years later.
